I like my sessions to feel like a hang out between friends where we are blasting out music and having fun while coincidently we are also shooting some stunning pictures. I want to get to know you and your essence so I can portray you as you really are. By the end of our time together we might feel as if we’ve know each other for ages. My posing style is very organic and vague so you can interpret as personally as possible, I might suggest a modification here and there to make sure it looks the best.
I like my work to feel like a cinematic story. I do my best when I can easily tell what the story behind a shoot is and can creatively explore it. I also believe that art cannot be rush and that the best results come when we are relaxed and not pressured by time, that way I can really grasp the depth of the story we are telling and do it justice. That is why whenever I’m shooting I like to take my time and why my session don’t run under two hours. Also so I can be inspired to tell every story authentically and the way it is meant to I limit the amount of shoots I do every year.
I shoot a mix of digital and film photography. I just find film to be so very special, it has some very unique qualities that help enhance the photos’ mood and nostalgia factor. Film is so inspiring to me that the colors I use for editing while they are not trying to emulate film they are very much based on it.
Everyone has their own essence and I try my best to capture everyone in their own light in a way that truly feels like you can see yourself when you see the photos. There is nothing more uncomfortable than trying to be someone you’re not, so let’s celebrate our authentic selves. And… be honest, being uncomfortable is never a good look on anyone.
While technically correct photos are the starting point of my work, I sprinkle in blurry, grainy, out of focus photos that some may deem imperfections. In my opinion help these kind of photos give character and dimension to your memories in a way that clinical and sterile “perfect” photos never will.
I like to think my photos have a certain “stamp” to them when it comes to color, lighting and texture. While I do think using all these elements to add flavor is highly important I also keep in mind that when you look at your pictures you don’t feel like they’re a sign of the times.
When I’m shooting I look to blend my editorial photography background and magazine inspirations with the candid, in-between moments that happen on the go.
My best work comes when you are open to experiment, try new things and get weird. This is one of the things that keeps things fresh and interesting which adds a special something to working with me.
